Testimonials

Maya, 16, says she knows that at “Greater Than,” she will not be made fun, and that she is safe. She feels she can be herself and learn and ask questions with people she knows care about her. Our youth development program has helped her have many cultural experiences outside of her neighborhood that have broadened her perspectives on opportunities available for her.

Brandon, 15, shared recently that he is grateful for “Greater Than,” because it has helped him with his stuttering. Brandon has learned how to rap and has been able to record his lyrics in our program music studio and also a professional studio. He has loved these experiences and says it has improved his self confidence overall.

Alex, 12, is our youngest participant in the “Greater Than” Youth Development Program (music track). This program has been a ‘teen program’ and was not registering students his age. He kept approaching our staff, and after much persistence, he was able to start with the teens in the music studio. He has been enthusiastic, mature and incredibly responsive to the lessons and the projects.
